Quanah Parker and Cythinia Parker

Recently, during my family history research, I made contact with an elderly cousin that I never knew I had.  It's been really good getting to know that side of the family and I am most grateful for the wonderful pics and info he has been sending me.
Most recently the following was shared with me, and at suggestion, I am posting here for your review and comments.    Please keep in mind his is not well, thus I have left the message as is with only some minor spelling corrections.
My cousin wrote me this:
If  you grew up in Tx you heard of Cynitia Ann Parker, captured Ft Parker by Comanche.
I believe she was Malaha's cousin.  Elder  John followed same travel pattern as our Parkers Va, Ill, Tx.  Mahala's middle name was Louise, Parker named all girls ending in "a".  Lefwich Texas Land Grant started in Bedford Va,  bought out by Sterling Robertson bought by Steven Austin who settled Ft Parker.  About 1905 son of Delta Preas, Joe went to visit Quanah Parker, Ft Sill Ok

"James & Alexander Parker from Carlisle, PA opened the 'corner store' in 1784 in Lexington, KY. In the Lexington Gazette, 8 Mar 1791, there is an announcement of the death of James Parker and the store was subsequently closed by his brother Alexander. Alexander Parker served as executor of his brother James' estate, and provided an account to the Fayette Co. KY court 13 Feb 1804."

  • To be honest, I have not gone through this site and read every post, LOL.  Thanks for the update on the Ann Clayton thing though; I though it was strange it said Ann Clayton instead of Ann Taylor Cash but then I though maybe someone knows something I do not.  It is a little over whelming when you realize how many of the children and grandchildren are named after the parents, etc...  It can make tracing your own family history a little difficult.  On some of the info, I will just have to wait upon my cousin and as I said in the email, not sure when that will be but hopefully soon.

Just found this stuff on Alexander Parker, Lexington KY; again it may be info you have all ready found but I hope it will aid you.   http://kdl.kyvl.org/catalog/xt7x696zwv4m/guide

  • The Parker cemetery visitor is David Paul Parker. He and family have started cleaning up the Parker cemetery near Westfield, Illinois. I have been there with him on one occasion last summer and returned once again before winter set in. We're hoping to keep up with it we ever get all the brush cut away.

Nathaniel who married Ann Clayton has been disproved as Elder John's parents.  I'm currently seeking information on Alexander Parker of Lexington, Kentucky.  Also earlier on this site I've mentioned James Parker orphans and minor sons of David Parker mentioned in New Jersey wills of Alexander, Grant, Johnston.  I just found the Lexington,KY hints. Has anyone else looked at Alexander Parker of Kentucky or elsewhere?

  • One more link and you may all ready know about these, if so, I do apologize but I try to read all I can find.

  • More info posted by a David Parker - http://genforum.genealogy.com/parker/messages/24211.html

My GGGG grandfather was James Parker (1752-1853). Yesterday, I visited the Parker Cemetery, located south-west of Westfield, Ill. Some of the early Parkers are buried there, but the cemetery is in some disrepair & the markers are difficult to read. It is located in a woods behind a house, surrounded by fields. James & Anna migrated there from Butler Co., Ohio. 5 sons - Johnathon Pleasant, Samuel, George David, James mercer, & William. Most of the Parkers moved to Crawford Co. later.

  • Discovered this link, which I think will greatly interest you too.
