Marian/Marion Parker is my maternal great-grandfather. Not sure of the spelling of his first name and his middle name may or may not be Avery. I've seen him listed on census records and land records with middle initial "A" or "O" and even "E". He was born in Missouri Sept. 15, 1878. Died in Ardmore, Carter, Oklahoma June 22, 1948. Marian's father was born about 1844 in either Missouri or Oklahoma. His name is listed as Joseph P. Parker on the 1910 census with Marian & my great-grandmother and he was widowed.

I suspect that after Marian was born in 1878 that they moved back to Oklahoma because in his obituary it said that Marian had lived in the southern Oklahoma area most all his life. I don't know his mother's name and have not found Joseph in any other census records for Oklahoma or Missouri.

Growing up, as kids we were told that we were descended from Quanah Parker and my mother & her siblings were told the same story of Quanah and his mother Cynthia Ann being kidnapped as a young girl. I have never found any documented proof of this and if we were, the connection would be thru Joseph. However, in the one census record that I found him in 1910 with Marian it lists him as being "White" and not "Native American" or "Indian".

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!
