I, like Forest Hazel, and also curious about links to Native Americans. I have two relatives -- Elvy Collins (first cousin to Graham) and Elvy Russell (uncle to Graham and Elvy) who were listed as "colored" on their death records. In all other records, they are white. My DNA test did show some native ancestry. So, more intrigue ...
Oh dear, where to begin. My interest in the Parker family stems from a marriage between Thomas Russell Collins, the brother of my ancestor Graham Russell Collins, and Nancy Parker in Gates County, North Carolina, on April 10, 1823. It is my assumption that this Collins family had married previously with Parkers, as it seems they married on multiple occasions into the Russell, Smith, Odom, Pierce, and other families. So I am interested in looking at records collected on Parkers for additional traces of my ancestors. The perturbing thing has been that I cannot place them prior to the 1780s in Nansemond County or Chowan County, and the leads in Bertie and Perquimans counties don't seem to go anywhere. My suspicion is that they may have relocated from Hertford County, but I cannot get access to William Murfree's tax lists. I would be looking for the names Thomas Collins, William Collins, and Samuel Collins. William Collins, I believe, is the grandfather of Thomas Russell Collins and Graham Russell Collins, and could be in that Hertford tax list.
My interests are in the Parker families in Gates County, NC. I have been researching the Chowan Indians of Gates county, and, while I don't see any genealogical connection between them and the Parkers at this point, I have been using some of the old Parker deeds to locate where different Indian families were living at various periods of time, especially between 1820-1900. The deeds of the families of James Parker of Elmwood Plantation, and those of Nathan Parker of Indian Neck Road were particularly helpful. Your book "Selected Deeds for Parker Lands...." was particularly useful. Thanks for putting the work into it.

Hi Raymond!
I sent my Parker line descent yesterday supposedly to the Chowan Co., NC group but I can't find it - can you? All I see are posts from months and years ago. I don't know my way around the site yet but it looks great! Thanks!
Hi Ray, Been a long time. How are you? My health has been up and down but still here, smile. Have you changed your phone # or e-mail address? If not I will contact you. Hugs, Amelia
Thank you Raymond. When I first went to Amazon it didn't come up. But I have now purchased it and should have a copy on Wednesday! I am a descendant of Patience Parker (Sellers/Sellars) through her son Laird Sellars. Sadly the cemetery he was buried in was razed by a farmer back in the 1960's or 1970's. We were able to salvage one headstone.
