My 3rd great grandfather is named James A Parker and hoped you would have some information for me. I am in the process of building my Tree at Ancestry.com. My James A was a CW soldier and was missing for 21 years after war. I no one knows for sure what happened to him during all that time. I do have a record of him telling a reporter of being a prisoner of war and his ordeal during that time. However, just wondering if he could have had another family as well. He returned and his wife took him back. The reporter said he looked way beyond his years. Get in touch if you think we can help each other. Pam

Hello from Fort Payne and welcome to PH! My Parkers reached Cherokee Co, AL 1870 then DeKalb Co in 1871-2 settling on Sand Mtn in Rainsville(once called Parker Town). I am a member of Parker Family #7 in the Parker yDNA project. Do you have a Parker male in your family who could be tested. Would love to compare our Parker history. Mike

My James A Parker was born in Alabama ,m but some time 1850s or 1865 came to Arkansas . He had 3 sons an 2 girls ., Marriage date 1878 to Samantha McHughes. 1880 census; i think he was marred 2 times the 1880 census has his older girl Elnara age 11, son Mathew age 10, Augustus age8, Louisa 6, Albert about 3mo.
