My Parkers settled in Shelby County, Texas, prior to 1850 (Census). I couldn't find where he had applied for a Land Grant for being in Texas. Peter Elijah Parker and his family left after their son, John Parker died. I don't know how John died or where his is buried. John was married to Sarah L. Morris and they had two children, Mary Ann Elizabeth and William Henry. Mary Ann Elizabeth Parker married John B. Black and had several children including Frances Mahalia Black. Frances married Luther Byron Latimer in1898. They had two children, Wilma Latimer (married John L. Jolley) and John Thomas Latimer. John married Geneva I. Samford and they had 3 children, John Thomas (died at birth), Tommie Jean Latimer and Johnny G. Latimer. Johnny is my father. My mother still lives on our family farm in Shelby County.
The DuBose is my husbands side, Issac DuBose down through Amos Allen DuBose, who settled in Newton, Jasper and San Agustine County, Texas.
Hello cousin. This is how I'm related: Ralph Regan Parker is my 3rd Great Grandfather with his son:
Heather,
You're probably right that I'm related somehow to John and Ivy. The hard part is proving it. I'm hoping the recent discovery of Emanuel Bowzer's 1790 will might shed some light on this. Emanuel's dau Susannah was the wife of Hardy Parker. Emanuel's dau Mary was the wife of Jacob Wells. A John Parker Sr. and John Parker Jr. were neighbors in 1800 of this Jacob's first cousin Jacob. I've found nothing further on this Hardy Parker.
Thank you!
Nice pictures!
It's been months since we talked, you posted over at Bell/Milam Counties. I just got back, and I would like to follow-up on your relatives/my relatives.
Hope you are having a wonderful holiday season!
