Moving on to a old "new" hobby

After many many years of enjoying genealogy research, I have done a lot of soul searching in the last 24 hours and have deceived that it is time for me to move on.

I have enjoyed meeting so many “new” cousins and cousins-laws and many other genealogy researchers. I will always treasury the memories of each and everyone.

My wife and my health has been going down hill for the pass two years.

When I was a teenager I built the first of many radios at the age of thirteen and my first TV at the age of 19. I wanted to become a Amateur Radio or “Ham” operator and passing the written exam was not a problem I could never pass the Morse code test. I did get to repair some of my Ham friends radios. I did get my FCC commercial Radio License

I went on to have a career as an Electronic Technician.

In 2007 the FCC eliminating Morse code exam requirements but at that time I was too busy doing genealogy research. Now it is time for me to fulfill by boy hood dream.

Right now there are three grades of Ham Licenses, Technician, General and Extra Class. You start out with the Technician exam, after you pass it the you can take the General and pass it then take the Extra. I plan on taking all three test in one day.

I will still be involved with genealogy research and PH but not a much as before.

  • Hi Wayne, Thanks for all the help you have given me in the past. But keep listening out because when I discover who Nicholas Parker of Anson County, NC father was, you're going to hear me hollering all the way down in Texas. Enjoy your new/old adventure.
    • Hi Gail,
Thanks I will be listening for your holler here in TX.
One of the things i enjoyed the most and still do is helping my fellows genealogy researchers out.
Waiting to see my newest great-grand son.

  • Wayne, I respect your research skills and hope you enjoy your ham radio experience. Please hang around on Parker Heritage, you are too knowledgeable to fade away from us. Mike
    • Mike,
I won't fade away, I just won't be as active. In 2017 I will have spend 27 years doing genealogy research and now I find it harder and harder to get myself motivated to do the in deep research that I have been doing.

  • Hello, Wayne -

Good luck to you on your tests. You have a great deal of tehnological skill to share, and the licenses will add to those skill sets. Best of luck.
Be sure to remember us all in genealogy.
