Martin Van Buren ParkerMartin Van Buren Parker and wife Emma moved to Olathe, Kansas in 1868. Parker was among the first lawyers in the area.He set up practice with brother-in law John P. St. John later served as govenor of kansas.Martin also had real estate insurance and farming businesses. at one time he owned over 700 acres across the countyEmma parker was also active in community and in 1883 she founded the ladies reading circle. One of the first woman's clubs in Olathe.
