Hi Karen,
Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. It's been hectic the past few days. Anyway, I have accumulated quite a bit of history on our Parkers, so if you'd like to see any of it, just send me your home e-mail address and I'll send you my files. My address is LDWalsh318@comcast.net. Right now, nobody seems to be able to get back beyond Philip Parker and Mary (Polly) L:ankford who were both born sometime around 1804, but I know who their children were and who their children were. I've also found quite a bit about our great-great-grandfather, Calvin Parker's service in the Confederate army. So if you're interested in any of this, I'm happy to share.
I remember Lottie quite well and still have a little ring she gave me when I was probably 9 or 10 years old. My mom remembers when Lottie ran a beauty salon and Mom used to go there after school and help mix hair dye and sweep the floors. Lottie gave that up after her mother died and she started looking after Ottoway.
Just did some poking aorund and it appears Tim has dropped off the site. I checked back through my old e-mail to see if I still had his and it looks like that was lost a couple years ago when my hard drive burned out and I lost all my saved mail. I wish I could remember what it was! Was heliving aorund Highland Springs or sandstaon? I'm thinking somebody in the family was living in that area for a while.
There are so many Parker cousins around that I've never had the chance to meet or even know about and it's always fun to find a new one. My mom was the only child of Russell Parker and Louise Purcell, but my granddad had been married earlier--very briefly--to another woman and they had a son, Russell, Jr. He and his mom moved to Baltimore when he was just a baby and now there are a number of cousins in the Baltimore area that I'd love to find.
I'd also ove to be able to go back beyond our great-great-grandfather Calvin Parker and his father, Philip PArker. So many records in King & Queen were destroyed and no one seems to know who Philip Parker's parents were, but I keep hoping that somebody somewhere has a family bible that has some information.
I know your grandmother, Evelyn, did a lot of research on the Phaup family and it was online for a good while. It may still be out there.
Just a little personal info: I grew up in the Richmond area, but have lived in Pennsylvania for many years. I have one sister who lives in Maryland and another who lives in Va. in New Kent County. My mom is still alive and currently lives in Williamsburg.
Hi Karen,
Nice to hear from you and find another cousin! My mom tells me that your grandfather was usually known as Ben rather than Raymond. There is a Raymond Parker on Parker Heritage who I have communicated with in the past and he is the grandson of Raymond B.. I'm wondering if that's your brother? I haven't heard from him in a while and I'll have to check to see if he's still on here.
