Arthur (A.L.) Parker, 82, of Ozark died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, in Clarksville. He was retired employee of the Franklin County Road Department and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was born Dec. 6, 1926, in Gainesville, Texas, to Jack and Alice Doughty Parker.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2008, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with burial at Cemetery Ridge Cemetery in Ozark.
He is survived by a son, Michael Parker and wife Regina of Ozark; a sister, Virginia Parker of California; three grandchildren, Gary Parker of Ozark, Michelle Phillipy of Greenbriar and David Rosson of Ozark; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gary Parker, David Rosson, Jason Cline, Robert Collier, Brandon Phillipy and Don Higgins. Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Franklin, Bob Caffey and Joe Powell.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 2, 2009, at Shaffer Funeral Home, 2315 W. Commercial, Ozark.
Relationship to Cynthia Ann Parker: We know there are at least 6 lines of Parkers whose descendants participated in the Parker DNA Project but that they probably connect in England. Of course, Elder John Parker was probably not an only child and did have parents who lived in Maryland/Virginia. It is a shame that the Indians who attacked Parker's Fort probably destroyed his bible which is said to have contained family information.
