  • My father was Joseph D Parker, his father was Purdee Parker, his father was jess Parker, Jess mother was Abbie Parker, Abbie was never married, She ways went by her maiden name, according to the census records. She was born in Socastee, in Horry county, South Carolina around 1855, she died November 4, 1932 in Galivants Ferry, Horry County, sc. Her father was Thomas Royal Parker, Her mother was an Elizabeth, on the 1860 census in horry county, they are living in the house with an Elizabeth Murrow. Thomas died March 17, 1862, from Thphoid fever. He was in the 9th Batt., infantry, Pee Dee Legion. He died at Camp Lookout, which was near Georgetown, South Carolina. By the 1870 census Elizabeth I think gave her children to David and Teresa Parker Rabon. Abigail(abbie) F. , and Isaac her brother. David and Teresa lived in Socastee, South Carolina. Their sister Maxine. Or her name on 1860 Census was not list with David and Teresa Rabon. Maxine married issac Martin, and lived her life in the Bucksport area until her death. Issac, end up marring two different ladies, 1st Esta Mae Edmunds, 2nd, Vance Ester Gowan, both from Fair bluff, north carolina. Both are buried in that area. He left there and ended up in George County, Mississippi. There he Married Mary Williams. He died in is buried in George County, Mississippi. Im trying to figure the connection, between Thomas r Parker and Francis Teresa Parker Rabon(wife of David S. Rabon). I know I'm right back to Thomas Royal Parker, im unsure past there. I dont think Thomas and Francis Teresa are brother and sister. P
  • I'm looking for info on my ggg-grandfather John H. Parker aka Walkingstick. He supposedly walked the Trail of Tears and escaped off a boat in Tennessee. He later married Margaret Taylor and resided in Stewart County, TN until he died. I believe he was born in South Carolina, although I've also seen North Carolina as well as Tennessee listed on some of the census records. I don't know his parents names or if he had any brothers or sisters. If anyone has any info or thinks there might be a connection, please let me know. Thanks
    • Have you looked on the Daws Rolls, a Cherokee Census the Feds did?
      • He or someone with him (he would have only been a toddler at the time) supposedly jumped ship in Tennessee and never made it to OK. There are some Walkingsticks listed on the Muster Rolls, but only the names of the heads of the households are listed. It is a total brick wall for me, since I don't know either one of his parents names or if he had any brothers or sisters.
        • Contact the Echota Cherokee in Georgia to see if they have info.
          • Good idea, thank you!
  • Hi my Parkers are from Sampson county NC, not too far from your part of the state!
  • Hello Teresa,
I too would like to encourage you to start a group for South Carolina.
