I'm looking for the family of Stephen T. Parker, b. about 1821-23 in Indiana.  He is my ggg-grandfather.  Here is what I know:
  • The first documentation I can find on him is from the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index, 1763-1900.  Parker, Stephen T married Daniels, Mary Margaret on 1847-11-02, License number 1022 in LaSalle county (Illinois).
  • He next appears in the 1850 US census residing in Rutland township, LaSalle county, Illinois, with wife Marion and 2 yr old daughter Maria L.  His age is listed as 27, making birth date around 1823, and birth place listed at Indiana.
  • By 1854 they had two sons (Francis A and William F) and another daughter (Annie Victoria, my gg-grandmother).  In August of that year oldest daughter Maria Louise died, along with Mary Margaret's mother and several siblings, from cholera in LaSalle, IL.  It is possible Mary Margaret also died at that time.
  • On 24 May 1861 Stephen enlists as a Private in the 13th Illinois Infantry Regiment, company C, from Malugins Grove, Lee county, IL.  He's transferred to the Invalid Corps on 30 Sep 1863, and dies in December that year.
  • According to pension papers tracked down and acquired by my cousin, John W. Dorn became guardian to Stephen's three surviving children.  It is possible that John Dorn's wife was Stephen's sister, Elvira Parker, but we have no actual evidence of this.
  • Two additional Parker names appear within the papers: an affidavit is signed by Elvira Parker (John Dorn's wife??) and Sarah A Parker that they were present at the death of Mary Margaret (Daniels) Parker 16 Aug 1857.  I don;t know what their relationship is to Stephen.
I am trying to discover who Stephen's parents and siblings (if any) were.  If any of this looks familiar to you, I would love to hear from you.
