George Nathaniel Parker (WW1 Death Plaque)

Does any member of "Parker Heritage" have a George Nathaniel Parker, who was the son of Mr & Mrs J.J. Parker of 39 St Julians Friars Shrewsbury England, UK, within their family history?

The reason I'm asking, is because someone has just added a WW1 Death Plaque for G N Parker on ebay.co.uk and if anyone has him in their family tree, and is interested in bidding for the Death Plaque, then it can be seen on ebay under Collectables > Militaria > World War I (1914-1918) > Plaques and then scrolling down the page to find the specific item.

To save time, I have pasted the information regarding the plaque and the person etc below, and would also advise that there are just over 4days left of the auction, and that the starting price was/is £55.00 plus £8.70 (p+p within UK).

The seller had provided the following information;-

  • WW1 Death Plaque
  • Plaque named to George Nathaniel Parker
  • George Nathaniel Parker service number 57001 Lance Corporal "A" Coy. 2nd Bn. Welsh Regiment
  • Killed in action 23/10/1918 ( Three weeks before the end of the war) Age 21
  • He was the son of Mr & Mrs J.J. Parker of 39 St Julians Friars Shrewsbury.
  • He is remembered at Highland Cemetery, Le Cateau, Nord France
  • Condition of plaque still with a good patination and with original cardboard envelope
  • Also included copy of the casualty details
Besides the above, there is a photo of the plaque on the ebay site.

Hope that the above may be of use to a Parker family member.

John

    • Hi Nancy and glad that the WW1 info re George Nathaniel Parker was of interest, even if he wasn't a known ancestor.  It is indeed most useful to add little snippets to the Parker forum, and I must do more of that when I get back into my family-history mode.

Your own George Parker from Yorkshire seems to be leading you a merry dance, but have you looked on the new familysearch site for him and his family, or on the FreeREG website?  I don't know whether either have the Parish Registers for "Langthorp[e], Bedale, and that area in N. Yorkshire", but it's worth a look on both sites 'in case'.

Wishing you every success, and I hope that Thomas will tun out to be the fella you need.

      John
