Columbia, Tn. Parkers

Hello,

The picture above is my beautiful Grandmother, (Paternal), Ruby May Sarah Lizbeth Parker.  Ruby married William Y C Grant, who owned Grants Nursery with his brother.  Ruby had 6 children:  Julia

               Helen

               Evelyn

William - Born in Columbia, (Maury County), Oct. 9, 1933

               Rosemary

               Patricia

I'm having a hard time finding info on her before 1956 or so.  Does any of this sound familiar to anyone?

  • I am going to look into this as I am from the Parker line and I was born and raised in Columbia.  My great grandmother was Ruby Nola Parker one of about ten kids of one James Monroe Adolphus Parker and Roxie Ellen Thompson.  I found one of my great grandmother's brother's sons who is a Parker in Baltimore, Maryland.  He took the DNA test after us two speaking and me explaining my reasoning for calling him out of the blue.  We are waiting the results from the Parker project.  I was always told by my grandmother, Joyce Ann Cannon, now Joyce White, formerly Joyce Tingle, that I was somehow related to Quannah as well.  I am not sure she has proven or disproven the theory but, I am working hard to do so.  If you would like to compare notes, swap research, etc, please let me know.  I can be reached via email at pottsfamily04@att.net.  I now live in Murfreesboro and go home to Columbia just about every weekend.  I can also be reached via cell phone at 910-465-4381.  My name is Shannon Potts

    • Hi Shannon,

I appreciate your help on this.  The amazing thing is that, though my grandfather died in 1940, I can find a lot more on him than I can my grandmother and her children.  You can reach me at kuda93@hotmail.com or 308-235-4499
