  • Be sure what u are getting. 1/2 off a mitochondrial DNA gets you a result for yourself but a very small pool to compare with. You need a male in the line you are researching for a yDNA-this gives you a huge pool to find matches. The Dennis West Parker DNA has matched 23 Parker families and has a large group waiting to match. Be sure your Ancestry bargain can be put in the y search project by FTDNA. Mike
    • well i wish i could afford 200 dollars for my dad but i can't. I got the 46 y marker paternal test. I have no idea if you can put in ftdna but i do know that any ftdna can be put into theirs. how can i find out?
      • Sign on to Ysearch, and you can add them manually. This is the same program FTDNA uses.
    • When you get the numbers, you can add them to Ysearch manually.
  • I just advanced mine from 20 to 37 markers at FTDNA
