In another post, I was looking for information on Jefferson Davis Parker...but I'm not turning my attention to who I believe was his father...a Phillip Washington Parker, who was supposedly born in TN in the early 1800's.  JD Parker's wife Artiliss Martha Lanier Parker stated that JD's father was Phillip, who came from TN.  He settled with his wife in Lawrence County, Arkansas near Black Rock.  Phillip trained soldiers in Hoxie, AR for the Civil War...and Phillip was killed in the war and didn't get to see the birth of his child Jefferson Davis Parker...my great grandfather.

Artiliss mentioned that JD had a brother named Phillip and a brother named Isaac, along with a sister named Mary.

If anyone has any information on Phillip Washington Parker from TN who is supposed to be Jefferson Davis Parker's father, that would help.

Btw...we've pretty much proven that this Jefferson Davis Parker, who is the father of George Truman Parker, is NOT the Jefferson Davis Parker who is the son of John M. Parker and Clara Fortune Barton Parker.

Thank you.

I've been doing a lot of searching on Ancestry.com...and while growing my "family tree"...I noticed that my grandfather's (George Truman Parker 1906-1984) father is listed as Jefferson Davis Parker (1863-1940)...with his father listed as John M. Parker (1823-1894) and mother as Clara Fortune Barton Parker (1823-1894).  Jefferson Davis Parker was married to my great grandmother Artiliss Martha Lanier Parker (1878-1946). Nearly every bit of info I can find on Ancestry.com give basically the same information.

However...my grandmother (Nellie Saulmon Parker 1920-2012) told my mother that before Artiliss Parker died in 1946, Artiliss told my grandmother that Jefferson Davis's father was a man named Phillip Washington Parker who was born in Tennessee but came to Arkansas before the Civil War.  He and his family lived in Lawrence County, Arkansas near the Black Rock community and Phillip W. was training with his regiment in Hoxie, Arkansas before heading off to fight in the civil war.  He left behind his pregnant wife to go to battle, but did not return.  His wife gave birth to Jefferson Davis Parker after Phillip's death.  Jefferson Davis Parker's birth date has been listed by family members as July 3, 1861 or 1863.  Artiliss also told my grandmother that Jefferson Davis Parker had a brother named Isaac and one named Phillip.  He also had a sister named Mary.

Since these two different paths are different...yet both have Jefferson Davis Parker marrying Artiliss and giving  birth to the correct children and being buried in Glazier Peau Cemetery in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas...which is all correct...I'm trying to figure out who JD's parents really are.  Also...is the Jefferson Davis Parker that is buried in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas the one listed on Ancestry.com as being born in Hempstead County, Arkansas...or is he the one that his wife Artiliss says was born and raised in Lawrence County, Arkansas?  Can anyone help?

Is This Gentleman In Your Family Tree?

Nicholas Parker born 1700 in Makefield, Bucks Co. PA.  He was married to Martha (Janney) Parker.  Died before 1765.  His children were Joseph, Mary, and Rebecca.  There may have been more.  I have been checking his children to see if my Nicholas Parker could have been one of his grandchildren.  Because if he was born in 1700 he could have had children around the 1720's and 30's then his children could have had children around the 1740's and 50's. My Nicholas was born in 1755.  In the records I have seen where they mention that there may have been other children.  Just looking for a lead.  If you can help please let me know.

I am searching for any history regarding my Father Samuel Lewis Parker, last know to live around Fairchance, PA about 1951.  He was married to Viola B Burnsworth and had three children prior to their separating.  I believe he passed away in late 1960s but not sure.  Also I believe he moved to the Western states after he and my mother separated; he also took the two boys with him.

Samuel Lewis Parker Jr DOB:  11/24/1951 and Kenneth Eugene Parker DOB:  8/2/1953 as well as myself Judith Rae Parker DOB:  9/18/1957.  I have never met my brothers and would be interested in meeting them.

Samuel listed as his parents on his marriage license:  Harry Parker and Sarah Brooks.

I would appreciate any help in researching this lineage...thank you for help.

Bunyan Parker Posted 1916 by GigiHudnall FRANCIS MARION PARKER.It is now nearly seventy years since the Parker family became identified with Jasper County. They were pioneers in the true sense of the word. When a consideration is had of the effective forces which brought about the county of the present time, a large share of credit must be given to such families as the Parkers. They were here in the log cabin stage of development. There were few roads when they came, and they helped to make highways, develop cultivated tracts of land, build better homes, establish schools and churches, and in every way they used their influence to promote what is good and uplifting in a community. Bunyan Parker, who was the leader of this family into the wilderness of Jasper County, arrived during the late fall of the year 1847 and settled in Gillam Township. With him came his wife and five sons and four daughters. One son had died in infancy in Ohio.

Who was the father of Peyton aka Paton Parker?

I thought I had my Parker line all figured out. Now I have to start at the beginning because I am confused. :). Here is what I think I know.John Peyton Parker was the father of my great grandmother. Her death certificate says she was born abt 1868 In Parkerstown, La. Her mother per oral history was Cherokee Indian (from Georgia). My 2x great grandmother , Sallie, is listed on the 1870 census with Sarah Parker. With her are her two kids. Jane, my great grandmother is listed as Nancy. They live next door to Aaron F Parker who is Sarah's son in Forksville, La. Sally is a domestic servant. In 1880 Sallie and kids are living in Ward 7 and with her are her two kids, Jane and Henry. Sarah is living in Ward 3 with her daughter in law. Also in Ward 3 is her son sons Aaron and John P and her grandson, John P Parker, jr. Sarah Hopkins Parker , the widow of Peyton/Paton Parker dies in 1886 at the home of her son. This is where I am now confused. Who was Peyton/Paton's father? I think it is West Parker. But now I am finding that there could be another West Parker. I need help sorting this out. Please.

Parker Born Gotenburg Sweden 1830s

Hi

I'm trying to trace relatives of Charles Parker born 16 August 1836 (possibly 1834 or 1838) in Gotenburg Sweden.

His father was a British sea captain and his mother was Swedish.  He had a brother possibly younger and they were about two years apart. Not long after the second son was born their mother died.  The father soon re-married but the second wife had no time for the boys so at a very young age they ran away to sea together.

Charles' brother left the ship in America and he never heard from him again.  This was probably early 1850's as he had talked about the ship being in New York when Jenny Lind was singing there and she toured from 1850 - 1852 arriving and leaving from New York.

Charles eventually jumped ship in Wellington New Zealand in 1856 where he married in 1960 and had 10 children

If there are any Parkers out there who have an ancestor with a similar story it would be wonderful to find our American cousins

Hi!

I'm just trying to find the links between a couple surnames

My Mothers maiden name is Parker. She has a brother Peter Parker (D)  I never knew her Fathers / my Grandfathers' name.

Her mother / my Grandmother  is Pearl Parker  but this is where it gets cloudy. Somewhere her last name was Worley.

My uncle / Mothers Brother, Peter Parker had several children, Charles, Wayne?  I never got to meet all and Peter died quite a while ago.

I've been told that our Parker lineage is connected somehow to Quanah Parker but, obviously, there where many other Parkers around and present day Parkers only lean towards Quanah as an ancestor!....I've been told my G-Great Grand' was a son of 1 of Quanahs 8 wives....?

But, its' the Scott side that was always referred to. As in "we are originally from the Scott family line" ...?

My "Cousins / Aunts - Uncles / mystery relatives" are - Scott, Names are foggy but, I know there's an Edna, Bruce, James, possibly a Charles.

All of these Parkers and Scotts live / lived in Florida. Mainly SW Florida but, also in / around Marco Island.

My "Cousins" live in Ft. Meyers FL. and are much in politics I believe.

Having a home next door to the Edison winter home and the Ford home. We lost touch when I was very young.

Any bells rung or clues to this connection are greatly appreciated!!

Jesse or Jessie Sam Parker

Hello,

I've found a bit more information regarding my Grandmother's Family.  The Parents of Ruby May Parker were Jesse Samual Parker Born about 1883 in Tennessee and And Sarah Satafield Born about 1884.  Records indicate that Ruby may have been named Bula or Buba Parker or this may just be incorrect interpretations from hand written records.

Siblings of Ruby are listed on Census Records as:

John G - 1918

Robert C   - 1921

Mary Louise - 1922

Leon - 1910

Ernest Sam - 1907

Grandma Ruby always told me we were Cherokee and that Quanah Parker was my 6th Great Grandfather.  I thought this strange as Quanah was Comanche but I see that, by reading a few posts on here, that being Cherokee and being related to Quanah Parker may be possible.  I'm so confused in my search as records are few and far between, including a lack of birth records for all 6 of Ruby's children supposedly all in Columbia, Maury County, Tn.  Julia G (Grant) Prentice passed away just this last August 4th. of this year.

Any info you might have to pass on would be greatly appreciated.

Donna R. (Grant) Kudebeh
