  • Book Following the Land by Raymond Parker Fouts I believe a woman now dead has Bray Parker listed on many pages. It is an excellent book that any Parker researcher should look at it if they have ancestors in North Carolina or Virginia and elsewhere. The children of Bray Parker and Nancy Williams are Mildred born 6 February 1807, Elisha born 18 April 1809, Rasco born 20 March 1811, Rosella or Rosetta born 25 March 1815, William born 7 {?} July 181_, Levi and Elizabeth born 8 February 1818; Charity born 6 June 1821; Jane born 4 February 1824, and Penelope Parker born 10 December 1827. These names and dates were taken from a Bible record, with the exception of William Parker. Elisha Parker was appointed Special Administrator on the estate of Levi Parker 20 December 1853. He an O B Savage entered into an administrative bond of $200.00. An inventory and sales of his estate was made 4 January 1854, by his adminstrator. No further information for this Elisha Parker. This Elisha Parker is the son of Bray Parker. Bray Parker6, John Parker5, John Parker4, William Parker3, Thomas Parker2, William Parker1. John Parker father of Bray Parker, John Parker father of John Parker, William Parker father of John Parker. Pages 103-105. There are many John Parker in Gates County, North Carolina. John Baptist Parker is the father of Bray Parker. Does Baptist mean a religion or is that his middle name. Pages for Bray Parker include 88-94, 103-105, 108, 113, 116, 118, and 120. All for now. Thank you for your information.
  • Hi Christianna,
I believe that John G. Parker is somehow connective to Bray Parker family. I don't have many of Parker DNA FG#1 members in my file. I am also looking forward to seeing the Parker on your father side.

  • Hello Elizabeth,

OK, I am ready to do some research. I am going to a new starting point. I want you to fill me in what you have found as I am going to not depend on the information in my file just yet. I am starting with the census information below, I am hoping you can fill me in on the children of Stephen White Parker and their birth days.. The first thing I need to know is this the right Stephen Parker?
Bring me up to date on your research of Elvington H. Parker.

  • Wayne thank you so much! That looks correct to me. I’m still digging into my family history. I am going to double/ triple check on John G. I’m starting to think something might be off. Especially if he is not on your radar. I also know their are Parkers on my father’s side, but I haven’t really started down that rabbit hole. I will hopefully update everyone soon. Thank you again!

  • Hi Elizabeth,

I will be touching bases will you later on with more questions and comments on your family

    Wayne

    You ask me .
“Here’s my question to you. I’ve noticed on ancestry that there are documents showing a
Stephen Parker who married Elizabeth Jane Ridley 20 Jun 1809.
But I’ve also seen where’s Stephen Parker married an Elizabeth Smith also known as Betsey Smith on 18 Jan 1810. Do you think that both of these Stephen Are the same person? “
No, The Stephen Parker who married Elizabeth "Bettie" Smith parents were Lewis Parker, Sr. (born Bet. 1745 – 1750 died December 14, 1824 in Hancock Co., GA) and Sarah Hatley (Born Abt. 1755) Lewis Parker parents were Major Richard and Ann Hogan who I have as your oldest known Parker ancestors.

  • Christianna,

OK on Parker DNA FG#7. I have Bray Parker in my file as belonging to FG#1 and I don't have any Information about John G. Parker in my file. I had a long any didn't get to do much research today so I will be getting back to you later this week.

  • Elizabeth,
Good to hear from you. I had a long any didn't get to do much research today so I will be getting back to you later this week.

  • Wayne N. Parker,

Hi Wayne good to see you on here! I wanted to let you know that I actually have DNA cousins that connected to me through Edward Marion Parker 15 Aug 1824-24 Jan 1901, Brock, Parker Texas. Edward is the son of Stephen White Parker 1787-1850.
Also dna connected to other sons of Stephen W Parker & Elizabeth Ridley to Hiram Parker; Hiram Parker 1819-1880, and daughter Lucinda W Parker. These DNA connections are through ancestry.com and my TrueLines on ancestry.

I have still not found any documents to prove that Edward Marion Parker, Lucinda W Parker, Hiram Parker, Edward Marion Parker are siblings to my 3rd great grandfather Elvington H Parker. But I am feeling more confident that Stephen is his father.

Here’s my question to you. I’ve noticed on ancestry that there are documents showing a Stephen Parker who married Elizabeth Jane Ridley 20 Jun 1809. But I’ve also seen where’s Stephen Parker married an Elizabeth Smith also known as Betsey Smith on 18 Jan 1810. Do you think that both of these Stephen Are the same person? I ask because once both women are married they are only known as Elizabeth Parker. So, I wonder if Stephen married Elizabeth Jane Ridley and she possibly died soon after, or at least before Jan 1810, then the same Stephen married Elizabeth “Betsey” Smith. This is just hypothetical, but what are the odds? It seems no one has found much of anything on the Ridley family or even connected via DNA. Perhaps we are all connected to the Smith line on the maternal side and because Smith is so common a name, we all have some Smith line somewhere in ours tree and it hides who our potential maternal line is. Just my thoughts. I have not tried to find any information on this Elizabeth Smith as of yet. But I wonder if it may be why Elvington doesn’t really get mentioned at all by Edward Marion or other siblings in wills or anything like he never existed because he may have been a half siblings? Edward Marion shows up on my DNA as a half sibling to Elvington. What do you think of this hypothesis?
