William Parker of FG#7

I was contacted by Sondra Schmalmaack a member of PH. She had traced her Hunter family back to Elizabeth Parker who married Isaac Hunter, Sr. Elizabeth is the daughter of Richard Parker III who died in Chowan Co., NC about 1750. Sondra wants to see if she can get William Parker of FG#7 to be accepted into The Jamestowne Society. I have sent her a bunch of files from my research, also I have sent her what information I have on some research that I did some years ago of a William Parker who was also born 1604 in England. This was before I started the project to connect all of the members of FG#7 back to our common ancestor.

I am asking that any member of FG#7 or any Parker researcher to please send any infomation that you might have that will help us.

Wayne

  • Hi Wayne, do you have any information in your records that can help me? I know Richard Parker III is the father of Elizabeth Parker who married Isaac Hunter, but do you have information on the line working backward from Richard Parker III? Any info would be appreciated. Thank you!!
    • Roger,
Yes I have a big file on our Parker family. I have posted a "ton" of information here on PH. Check out all my posts and after you read all my posts then feel free to ask any questions.
Also please post information about your family line from Elizabeth Parker down to you.
I am posting just a very very small amount of info in this post.

NOTE: There are three different Richard Parker living in the late 1600's in VA and so far as I know, no researcher has ever found any primary or secondary sources of information nor have been any y-DNA results that can connect the different Richard Parker as being kin to each other yet so many researchers are still combining and mixing the families of the three different Richard Parker into one family!!!!!
The Richard Parker of FG #7 is from the Parker family from Nansemond Co., VA and he IS NOT REPEAT NOT the Dr. Richard Parker of Charles City Co., VA, Henrico Co., VA and who was a descendant of the Parker family of Browsholme, England!!!
The Richard Parker of FG #7 is not the Richard Parker of Surry Co., VA either!!!
      • Thank you - sorry I'm new here and excited! Thanks especially for your last paragraph clearing up about the 3 Richards from VA. I appreciate you sharing your wealth of knowledge here! Interestingly I was born and raised in Gates County, NC, which is in the neck of the woods where the Parkers you listed planted roots. Very cool. Thanks again!
        • Roger,
I enjoy sharing my research with all the Parker researchers, when you get ready for more information, just let me know. I can send you larger files by e-mail. Since you live in Gates County, I am sure we will have some questions for you.

          • Thanks Wayne - I don't live in Gates County, but I was raised there. I live near Raleigh, NC now. But I do plan to visit the Gates County Historical Society archives at some point, so if there's anything specific you need me to search for, I'm happy to see what I can find for you. At some point once my initial tree is "done" (never done, but you know), I'd like to find some of the more obscure gravesites around the state and southeastern Virginia, perhaps get photos before nature takes them. There are some photos on findagrave.com and other places, but in some cases I'd like to get some better photos. I don't suppose there is a place to add attachments here, is there? I was going to share my tree visually. I do have a couple of books so far that have been helpful for my tree -- one called "The Hobbs Family Tree from Northeast North Carolina" by Betty Smith Hobbs -- fun adventure obtaining that book. Another called "William Hunter of Nansemond Co. and His Early Descendants" by the Hunter Family Research Group" which I purchased just a couple of weeks ago from the Hunter Family Trust website -- this one is probably of more interest to more people here since the Hunter connection is directly connected to the Parkers through Elizabeth (Parker) Hunter and Issac Hunter. If there is anything in any of those books that I can look for, please let me know. I haven't had a chance to look through the Hunter book very carefully yet. Very interesting to see how different people put these complex things into book form! And, of course, I'm reaching out to family and local contacts to get some more recent tree memories recorded. It's a fun journey.
  • Update, after Sondra sent me her Hunter research list and as I started to verified her research I found out that her direct Hunter family was not from Isaac Hunter, Sr and Elizabeth Parker. She is a Hunter descendant from Isaac Hunter, Sr brother Nicholas Hunter who also had a son named Isaac Hunter, Sr .
