Ruh row Raggy......DNA Delay

Hoping for a resolution from the lab, was getting really excited, but it looks like I am delayed in my yDNA info. Has anyone else run into this recently? Hoping it's just that they are backlogged. Results pending went from an March/April date to a late May/June date....

"We understand your frustration in not receiving your results as anticipated. We appreciate your patience as we work to provide you with reliable, accurate results. There are many possible reasons for your delay, such as our need to re-run your test or we need more sample."

DOH!!!!

The wait used to be part of the fun, now it is no fun!

  • Just so happens. I upgraded with FTDNA in January. They wrote me 2 weeks ago to inform me that it wouldn't be until June. I wrote them and found out that they have a HUGE influx of testing. So they put our test back into storage until it was time. They assured me that the vile was safe and nothing had happened. So Have Faither ;0)
  • I just recently went through the same thing with FTNDA with both my Y-DNA & MtDNA. They original set my date as the week of Feb 26, then I received an update saying Late March/ Late April date with the exact statement you posted. To my pleasant surprise I got my Y-DNA results on March 13th and MtDNA on March16th.
  • Robert T, I received the same type message some time ago. And when the news came it was worth the delay.
  • Thank you Patricia!

I'm sure it is a madhouse at the lab! The note I posted above in bold was sent by FTDNA without my prodding. It is under my "awaiting results" button. They seem to be very in tune with the anxiousness that comes with this type of information. Can't wait to see where this leads me.
  • Oh, Robert T. Parker, your aggravation is SO understandable. Take the lab at their word -- "...need to re-run...need more sample..." on and on, but gather your patience. Family Tree has been known for years as very dependable, and the only thing different lately in their business is that Ancestry.com (FTDNA's main YDNA testing competitor to date) no longer does just YDNA. So, that leaves the highly recommended FTDNA company to receive the bulk of all new YDNA test samples for processing, including yours :). The sheer mass of that may be greater than any of us know.

But when they get your sample tested and when Dennis West has it analyzed for a potential match, you will be ready for a real adventure.
