I have been busy lately trying to add to the research on my Parker families. The file below is a part of that research. This White family is connected to several different Parker members of FG#7 . As always this is part of my working file and could change anytime.

Jonathan While would be my 5th great-grandfather thought his daughter Priscilla White wife of Richard Harris. I had though she was a Holmes but now believe she is a White.

Also I believe her niece is Lucy "Ann" White wife of Daniel E. Parker.

Descendants of Jonathan White

Generation No. 1

1.  JONATHAN1 WHITE was born 1700 in Norfolk, Co., VA, and died Bet. February 28 - August, 1772 in Granville Co., NC.  He married (1) FAITH.    He married (2) SARAH.

Jonathan White of Granville County

Jonathan White was an early settler of Granville County, N.C., a justice of the peace, and in 1748 was one of three commissioners appointed by the General Assembly to choose a location for the Granville County Courthouse. He was a member of the White family of the Southern Branch of the Elizabeth river in Norfolk County, Va. When he died in 1772 he was married to Sarah White. There is deed in Granville County in 1757 from Jonathan White and wife Faith to Ezekiel Fuller. This writer and others had previously identified this person as Jonathan White, Jr. However, a closer examination of the records has shown that a better explanation is that Jonathan White was married first to Faith, and second to Sarah. The following is his will, recorded in Granville County court in August 1772:
I Jonathan White of the County of Granville give to my loving wife Sarah White two Negro girls, Rachael and Abbe, two feather beds and furniture, one bay mare and colt, and one Negro girl Nan during her life. I give to my son Jonathan White 140 acres of land where he now lives. I give to my son Burgess White 140 acres of land where he now lives. I give to my son William White 100 acres of land where he now lives. I give to my son Philemon White 100 acres of land where John Davis now lives, and I desire if my son Philemon die without marriage or lawful heir the 100 acres be sold and the money to be equally divided between all my children living, and it is my desire that all the remainder part of my estate be sold and the money equally divided between all my children, and at the death of my wife Sarah White I desire the Negro girl Nan to be sold and the money to be equally divided between all my children. I appoint my wife Sarah White and Thomas Bradford my executors February 28, 1772. Witnesses: Henery White, Burges White, Jonathan White

On 6 Dec. 1757 Jonathan White and Faith his wife sold Ezekiel Fuller 200 acres of land on both sides of Tabbs Creek in Granville County. A comparison of this 1757 deed with a deed dated 29 Nov. 1748 to Jonathan White, Esq., shows that they refer to the same parcel of land. Since this was the first land sold to Jonathan White in Granville County, and Jonathan, Jr., was still listed on the Granville County list of tithables with his father as late as 1755, then the Jonathan that sold the land in 1757 and whose wife was named Faith must have been the elder Jonathan White. This would seem to be true because since the title esquire must refer to Jonathan White (assumed to be the elder) who was a justice of the peace at the time. Also, Jonathan White, Jr., was married to Martha (___), not Faith, in 1777 when Jonathan and Martha White sold 140 acres in Granville County to Hugh Currin. The 140 acres would seem to be the same 140 acres given by his father ‘s will in 1772. Evidently, Jonathan White, Sr., was remarried to Sarah by 1764 when Jonathan White and his wife Sarah sold 200 acres in Granville County on 15 Aug 1764. The identity of Faith (___) White is not known.

The identity of Jonathan White ‘s widow Sarah can be discovered by later records referring to his bequest to his widow of the Negro Nan. First, we need to talk about the daughter Mary of Jonathan White. The will of Frederick Homes of Granville County, dated 29 Jan. 1749/50, named wife Mary, son John Homes, and daughter Priscilla. He appointed ” Jonathan White my father-in-law and Richard Harris my brother-in-law my two executors and trustees. ” The witnesses were John White and James Horton. Probably, father-in-law in this instance indicates that Mary Homes was the daughter of Jonathan White. In Granville County Court November 1763 Thomas Bradford returned the guardian account of the estate of Frederick Homes. It included payments for the schooling of John and Priscilla Homes. In Thomas Bradford ‘s will dated 22 March 1785 he named his wife Mary. Hence, it is likely that he married Mary (White) Homes and was guardian of her children by Frederick Homes. The identification of Thomas Bradford as Jonathan White ‘s son-in-law would be consistent with his being named an executor of Jonathan White ‘s estate. In his will Thomas Bradford made the following bequest; ” I give to my son Philemon Bradford two parts of nine of a Negro woman named Nan, one part being given part, and the other bought of Philemon White which he is to have after the death of Sarah Rush.” From this bequest and the will of Jonathan White two conclusions are evident. The first is that the widow of Jonathan White was remarried to a Mr. Rush, and the second is that Jonathan White had nine children. It is likely that Mary (White) (Homes) Bradford gave her part of the bequest in the will of Jonathan White to her husband Thomas Bradford.

The marriage bond in Bute County, N.C., dated 26 March 1773, proves that Sarah White was remarried to Benjamin Rush. Sarah Rush made her will in Franklin County, N.C., dated 2 Dec. 1790. In it she made bequests to her husband Benjamin Rush, brothers John, Moses, and Jacob Bledsoe, sisters Elizabeth Harril and Catherine Thornton, sister-in-law Jane Bledsoe, widow of George Bledsoe and her children, and the children of sister Anne Wooten, deceased. Notably lacking is any mention of the children of Jonathan White. No further mention was found if the Negro Nan. However, there was a bill in the General Assembly session of December 1791 to January 1792 to liberate Abislom and Rachel Spicer, slaves, the property of Benjamin and Sarah Rush. It is possible that Rachel Spicer was the same Negro Rachael that Sarah White received from the will of Jonathan White. Abraham Bledsoe made a will in Granville County, dated 15 March 1753, which named sons Isaac, Abraham, Thomas, Jacob, Moses, and Aaron and wife Sarah. The similarity of names in this will and the will of Sarah (Bledsoe) (White) Rush indicate that she was probably a daughter of Abraham Bledsoe. Abraham Bledsoe and Sarah his wife sold 400 acres in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, to Thomas Watts on 5 June 1732. Sometime after he sold his land in Spotsylvania County he moved to North Carolina, where on 10 Feb. 1742 he purchased 200 acres in Edgecombe County from William Person. Since the family of Abraham Bledsoe moved to North Carolina between 1732 and 1742, and some of the children of Jonathan White, especially Mary, were probably born before 1732, then these dates support the fact that Sarah White was the second wife of Jonathan White.

The Granville County tax lists from 1770 to 1784 show which of Jonathan White ‘s children continued to live in Granville County:

1770-Jonathan White (7 tithables), William White (1), Burgess White (1), Jonathan White (1), John White (1), Henry White (1).
1772-Henry White (1), Burgess White (1), Jonathan White (1), Philemon White (1), William White (1), Sarah White (4), John White (2)
1774-Jonathan White(2), William White(1), William White(2), John White(1)
1775-William White (2), Jonathan White (2), Burgess White (1), John White (1), William White (1)
1784-Jonathan White (219 acres), Philemon White (0), Philemon White (156), William White (980), William White (295)

There were nine children of Jonathan White, probably all by his first wife Faith. Four sons are mentioned in his will, and two others, John and Henry, are identified by receiving legacies from the estate. Daughter Mary and possibly an unmarried daughter Fatey brings the total known or suspected children to 8 out of 9 indicated from the settlememt of Jonathan White ‘s estate. Issue: (1) Mary, born ca. 1730, married (1)Frederick Homes ca. 1746, married (2)Thomas Bradford. (2) John White, born ca. 1732, married Mary Bradford bef. 1763, died Chatham County, N.C. 1799. (3) Jonathan, born bef. 1735, married bef. 1777 Martha (___), died intestate or moved from Granville County between the census of 1790 and 1800. (4) William, born bef. 1739, married bef. 1773 Mary (___). (5) Henry, born bef. 1739, married Jemima Harris, died Granville County 1776. (6) Burgess, possibly moved to Davidson County, Tenn., before 1784 when a Burgess White was mentioned on a land grant. (7)Philemon, possibly the same Philemon who died in Granville County in 1803. (8) possibly, Fatey mentioned as Fatey White in the will of Robert Hicks in Granville County, and who was possibly named for her mother Faith White.

According to the research by Richard Creechley and passed on to me (W.N.P.) by Peter Beadle.
"It was brought to my attention that a Mary Lucy White as stated in our Family Genealogy  was "not" the sister of Elder John Parker's wife Sarah "Sallie" White. After researching the "WILL" of Benjamin White and seeing that Sarah's sister's name was Mary "Mollie" White, married to John Pearce, 02, Feb. 1782, Pittsyvania Co, Virginia pretty much settled that, as well as Daniel E. Parker's wife was named Lucy "Ann" White...."

So it looks like another “fact” has been disprove after being accepted as a fact for all these years. W.N.P.

The newest Parker member of FG#7 P401 has a paper trail that links Daniel E. Parker and his wife Mary Lucy White to his father Major Richard Parker and his wife Ann Hogan.
What this means is Daniel Parker is not a brother to "Elder" John Parker of DNA FG#5 as many of us believed. - info supplied by Wayne Nelson Parker
Noted, in "The Cemeteries of Upson County, Georgia" publication; Daniel Parker was a "Revolutionary Soldier".

I am looking for info on John White Jr. (no dates) who married Hester Brantley (no dates). They had a daughter Mary Bradford White (b.1808-d.1900) who married William Holland Smith (b.1796-d.1873) around 1831. Between 1830 & 1832 William and Mary moved from Randolph Co. NC to Weakley Co. TN. They traveled with Rev. Philemon White (Mary's brother, Philemon was also a cabinet-maker), Bullard A. Fowler, Cornelius Dowd and others. Any info on John's parents, and Mary and Philemon's brothers and sisters?

I found this Bible record in "Southern Bible Records," Vol. 5, pages 89, 90, by Mrs. Lester. It was owned by a lady in Wilmington, NC. It had no locations with it but I believe it is a family that was in Chatham Co. NC. You decide.

John WHITE, Jr. born 5-11-1770
married 1792
Hester BRANTLEY born 5-8-1774
Sallie born 5-11-1793
Zachariah born 4-9-1797
Nancy born 11-13-1798
Elizabeth born 4-18-1800
James born 8-5-1801
John 111 born 1-13-1802
William born 3-14-1803
Anna Mariah born 12-4-1805
Patsy born 5-2-1807
Polly Bradford born 8-1-1808
Sherwood born 8-29-1810
Simeon 4-5-1812
John Brantley 1816

The bible does not state that these are all children of John and Hester but the dates are consistent with that idea.
Keep in mind that Sallie would probably be Sarah, Patsy would probably be Martha and Polly Bradford would probably be Mary Bradford. Was she Mary Bradford White or Mary White who became Mary Bradford?
I am not related as far as I know but it sure would be nice to find a Family Bible with my folks in it.

More About JOHN WHITE and HESTER BRANTLEY:
Marriage: 1792

    v.    PENNY WHITE, b. July 15, 1775.

3.  MARY2 WHITE (JONATHAN1) was born Abt. 1730.  She married (1) THOMAS BRADFORD.    She married (2) FREDERICK HOLMES 1746.  He was born 1700, and died January 20, 1748/49 in Granville Co., NC.

Notes for FREDERICK HOLMES:
Frederick Holmes and a Richard Harris are found in Granville County, NC. Tax Lists as early as 1748. {Granville County, North Carolina Tax Lists, 1747-1759, Abstracted by Timothy W. Rackley; copyright 2003 by Timothy W. Rackley, PO Box 2502, Kernersville, NC. 27285-2502]{To be listed as taxable, whites had to be at least sixteen years old or up.} In the 1748 Tax List is a Richard Harris with 2 taxables. A Frederick Holmes is listed with 1 taxable

More About FREDERICK HOLMES and MARY WHITE:
Marriage: 1746

Children of MARY WHITE and FREDERICK HOLMES are:
    i.    JOHN3 HOLMES.
    ii.    PRISCILLA HOLMES.

4.  PRISCILLA2 WHITE (JONATHAN1) was born Bet. 1730 - 1735, and died Aft. 1808 in Granville, Co., NC.  She married RICHARD HARRIS,SR. Bef. 1748 in Granville Co., NC, son of RICHARD HARRIS and MARGARET KIMBROUGH.  He was born Bef. 1730 in Hanover Co., VA or Granville Co., NC, and died Bet. March 30, 1785 - May 31, 1787 in Granville Co., NC.

Notes for PRISCILLA WHITE:
NOTE: Many researcher including myself have Holmes listed as the last name for Prissilla based on the will of  Frederick Homes of Granville County, dated 29 Jan. 1749/50, named wife Mary, son John Homes, and daughter Priscilla. He appointed ” Jonathan White my father-in-law and Richard Harris my brother-in-law my two executors and trustees. ” The witnesses were John White and James Horton.
However if you read the will you can see that both John and Prissilla are under age.
Their mother Mary White Holmes then marries Thomas Bradford as her second husband.
NOTE: Records below show that Richard Harris and wife Prisculla was selling land by Jan. 4,1775.
Selected Records of North Carolina

NOTE: OK let's look at  the will of  Frederick Homes of Granville County, dated 29 Jan. 1749/50, named wife Mary, son John Homes, and daughter Priscilla. He appointed ” Jonathan White my father-in-law and Richard Harris my brother-in-law my two executors and trustees. ” The witnesses were John White and James Horton.
I (W.N.P. 9-2-2014)  now think that Fredeick Homes wife Mary White sister must have been the wife of Richard Harris and her name was Priscilla White.

NOTE: From research of Jim White,
http://jimserver.net/jonathan-white-of-granville-county/

I (WNP) THINK NUMBER (9) is Priscilla White wife of Richard Harris

A 2-great granddaughter [Sarah F. (McGILL) DEAN, daughter of Dr. James W. NOTE: I Wayne Nelson Parker can not either prove or disprove that Richard Harris of Geanville Co., NC was the Richard Harris that signed the THE MECKLENBURG DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE after searching for the past 20 years. (July 2013)

THE MECKLENBURG DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE
May 20.1775

2. We the Citizens of Mecklenburg County do hereby desolve the political bands which have connected us to the Mother Country & hereby absolve ourselves from all allegiance to the British crown & abjure all political connection, contract or association with that nation who have wantonly trampled on our rights & liberties & inhumanely shed the innocent blood of American patriots at Lexington.

We do hereby declare ourselves a free and independent people - are & of right ought to be a sovereign & self-governing association, under the controul of no power other than that of our God & the general government of the congress, to the maintainence of which independence civil & religious we solemnly pledge to each other our mutual cooperation, our lives, our fortunes & our most sacred honor.
4. As we now acknowledge the existence & controul of no law or legal officers, civil or military, within this County, we do hereby ordain & adopt as a rule of life, all, each & every of our former laws - wherein nevertheless the crown of great britain never can be considered as holding rights, privileges, immunities, or authority therein.

The Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence has been printed in a number of different styles over the years; inscribed on a plaque placed on the wall of the Mecklenburg County Court House by the County Commissioners in 1937, and otherwise reproduced. The most unique of these reproductions was wrought by Harry Orr of Charlotte who secured a log from the McIntyre Farm House and built a desk top upon which he carved the entire text of the Declaration, inlaying each letter. The finished product was carefully polished and is an impressive reminder of the faith Mecklenburg citizens have in this important document. It may be seen in the Public Library of Charlotte.

Parkers’ Farm

Henry Dale Parker

Paul Reagor Parker

In the late nineteenth century, innovation in the field of livestock breeding resulted in more productive beef cattle and swine herds. A brief review of Parkers’ Farm identifies this Century Farm as a key contributor to the popularity of Angus cattle in Middle Tennessee. Located in the Raus Community of Bedford County, Parkers’ Farm is one of the oldest in Bedford County. Elijah Parker, a North Carolina native, established the homestead in the early 1800s and acquired the title in 1812. Parker was married twice but his first wife, Mary Harris Parker, bore all of his fourteen children. Active in local politics and community affairs, Elijah also farmed over 400 acres of land, cultivating clover, cattle, horses, and grain.

Elijah and Mary’s son Daniel Parker acquired about 410 acres of the farm in 1850. A prominent Bedford County politician, Daniel Parker served in the Tennessee House of Representatives in 1861. Like those of his neighbors, Parker’s farm yielded small grains and livestock. Daniel also married three times and had four children.

By 1885 Henry T. Parker, Daniel’s son by his third wife Susan W. G. Parker, had acquired 374 acres of Parkers’ Farm. He continued to grow the same crops as his grandfather and father, but Henry was an innovator in livestock production. The first member of the American Angus Association in Tennessee, Parker played a key role in introducing the Angus breed to the region.

Daniel W. Parker, the third of Henry and May Shofner Parker’s five children, inherited 200 acres of the farm in 1936. Like his father, Daniel was eager to improve farm efficiency. In 1936, intrigued by the federal government’s Rural Electric Co-op program, he helped to organize the Duck River Electric Membership Corporation. Daniel served as its secretary/treasurer until the early 1970s.

In 1972, Henry Dale and Paul Reagor Parker, the great great grandsons of Elijah Parker, inherited the family farm of 200 acres.

Today June 22. 2012 I am adding David Higgins Harris as son of Tyre and Betsy Hawkins. This is not proven  yet, but based on the facts above and below.

"David's  brother a  Baptist Minister  moved to Texas, his son lived in Henderson, TX and was visited some years ago  by Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Ingram and Barry Rose.
David also had a Sister."  From the Harris history read aloud at the Harris-Williams and also read aloud at the Rose-Parker-Harris-William families reunion held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ingram.
NOTE; ROSE-PARKER AND HARRIS- WILLIAMS REUNION
NOTE:  The Webster Progress, Eupora, Mississippi Thursday, June 15, 1939
I don't think David brother was the Baptist Minster but his nephew the Rev. Samuel Parker Harris was and the person that Mr. and Mrs. Ingram and Barry Rose visted  was John Harris grandson.

His brother was John Harris, son of Tyre and  Betsy Hawkins Harris ,who's sister was Mary Harris wife of Elijah Parker.
John was in Fayette Co., Al. in 1831 in Choctaw Co., MS in 1840, moved to Cherokee Co.,Texas in 1845
where in 1848 he donated some land for a church and cemetery. The name church is Rocky Spring Baptist Church.

Tyre Harris married Betsy Hawkins in Granville County,
North Carolina on 1-21-1796. The next we hear from them, they are living in Wilson County, Tennessee. They wrote a letter to their son, John Harris, who was married to Sally (Amelia) Leonard?. John and Sally were living in Fayette County, Alabama. We are not sure what her name is. In the letter, she is referred to as Sally, but in census records in Texas, she is shown as Amelia.
John and Sally moved to Texas via Mississippi in 1845. My ggrandfather, Samuel Parker Harris, was born 12-24-1845 in Texas, Cherokee County.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has information regarding this family.
