He was baptized there in 1845 and is buried there in an unmarked grave. He was born in 1772, in Edgefield Co., SC. and died in 1858-1860 in Henry Co., Al. Lewis is my 5th great grandfather. He was on the 1830 census of Henry Co., Al.

He was a farmer and raised several sons who served in the Confederate States of America.

Salathial was 6'1" tall with dark complexion, dark eyes, and dark hair. He was a farmer by occupation.

 

He served with Company A of the 37th Alabama Infantry Regiment which was organized at Abbeville on March 12 1862.He was mustered into Confederate service on March 22, 1862 at Auburn, Alabama. The Regiment was known as the "Henry Volunteers" He received an honorable discharge at Durant, Mississippi due to his medical disability. He lost an arm while in service.

 

Many of his family members, brothers, Uncles, and cousins also served with this unit and others, including the Immortal 600. This family fought to protect their families and their homes.

We have found no definitive date of death. She was alive on the 1900 census and was not found again on census. However, we have dates up to 1914 on her pension files.

 

Wife of Salathial F. Parker whom he married January 13, 1849 in Quitman County, Georgia.

 

She was a sister of Matthew Irvin Nesbitt who died in Henry Co., AL. We have very little information on her family.

 

She was the mother of, Robert S., Sara Francis (Fanny), Samuel S., Mary Jane, Martha, Sophronia Melvina, Cathran, and John D. Parker.

LAID TO REST TODAY

 

Friends will regret to learn of

the death of Mrs. Robert Parker, aged

woman of this city, at her home here

last night and funeral services were

held for her this afternoon at four

o'clock, conducted by the Rev. Joe

Cook of the Methodist church. Inter-

ment was in the Bold Springs cemetery.

Mary Melvina Barrow was born in

Marianna, Jackson County, Florida. She

was a daughter of the late William and

Nancy Broxton Barrow of Jackson Co., Fla.

She is survived by her husband, Mr.

Robert Parker, two sons, Robert, Jr.

and William Parker and two daughters,

Miss Mary Vinnie Parker and Mrs.

Nancy Hess.

Mrs. Parked has lived in Thomas-

ville for many years and was well

known to many people. She was 84,

years of age and for several years had

been in feeble health, unable to get

out much, except about her home.

Funeral services were in charge of

Herring's.
