FG#5 ... I'm so confused!!! PLEASE HELP

ive been working on my family tree for a while now, off and on. I'm working on my moms side for now which i believe is the FG#5 Parker group. it seems like there is a LOT of confusion once i/we get to Elder John Parker and his father Nathaniel Parker? Nathaniel born in 1724 or 1730?

this is how my lineage goes:

my grandmother was born Maydell Parker in 1907 --> great grandfather Isaac Duke Parker 1880 - ? --> Daniel G Parker 1856-1941 --> William Eldridge Parker 1825-1858 --> Isaac Duke Parker 1793-1883 --> Elder John Parker 1758-1836 and this is where it gets crazy confusing. apparently there was a new DNA test result released in 2016 that says Nathaniel Parker born in 1730 is NOT related to Elder John Parker, so where doe it go from here now?

PLEASE HELP!

  • Ron,
My webpage "There were two Nathaniel Parker's in Hampshire County, VA (now Mineral County, W.V.), but only 1 of them shows in Sumner County, TN" addresses one of the said Hampshire County, VA Nathaniel Parker's with supporting documentation. See:
    http://freepages.family.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~theduffypapers/parke...
The one who did migrate from Hampshire County, VA. to Sumner County, TN. was born in 1724 per a g-grandaughter's circa 1860 family bible, and that Nathaniel Parker died in 1811 Sumner County, TN. and an inventory of his estate was produced in March 1812. The only documented source for the 1730 year that I've found is Jay Guy Cisco's 1909 book 'Historic Sumner County, TN. where he also states Nathaniel Parker died in 1803. Both the 1730 and 1803 dates were best guess for the Nathaniel Parker (1724-1811) by g-grandchildren whose 1904-1907 letters found in 'Parker in America' form the basis for Jay Guy Cisco's Parker treatise in 'Historic Sumner County, TN." That Nathaniel Parker and his father John Parker belong to Parker yDNA family group #18. It is unknown whether the second Nathaniel Parker in the 1782 Hampshire County, VA tax records (listed as Senior *) is the father of Elder John Parker from FG#5.
A link to my email can be found at the top of the above referenced web page.

    * "Senior" in the early tax records was often used to indicate an older person by the same name, not as the Senior and Junior in use since the mid 1800's.
  • Got your work cut out for you! Good luck! Mike
