Is this the family of William G. Parker?

I know from the information from William G. Parker tombstone that he was born December 06, 1803 in Edgecombe Co., NC. Did he have a brother named Cincinnatus M. Parker born abt 1799 and were they still living in Edgecombe Co., NC in the 1810 census? If they were still living in Edgecombe Co., NC in 1810 then I need for a male between the age of 10-15 and a male under the age of 10. Below is a list of the Parker families living in Edgecombe Co., NC in 1810.

There is only one Parker family listed below that has a male in 10-15 and under 10 and that is William Parker born before 1765 and I found this William Parker listed in the 1800 census in Edgecombe Co., NC as being born before 1755.

Now I look at my research file and find that I have a William Parker born about 1754 and he is the son of Simon Parker (FG#7) and Judah Knight. See Simon Parker will at bottom of post.

  • Wayne, do you know a good source for identifying land transactions? The William listed above would have sold his 85 acres shortly after turning 21, between 1824 - 1826, because he had already moved and had his own son Leroy in another state (Kentucky?) by 1827. I see Simon's land grant for 300 acres in 1749, but there's other land here. I've had a hard time trying to tie our William Parker b.1803 to the Simon line. I'm not sure what would help that gap at this point.

Also, did you see the Parker christening list in England for 1590-1625? The only William Parker listed with a birthdate in 1604 had a father named Stephen in Barley, Hertfordshire, England. I thought I saw a connection with John Bush to that area, but I don't recall how. Thanks!
    • Cynthia,
That is why I posted "Is this the family of William G. Parker?"

This is from my research file. NOTE: Theory Only, on 10-22-2015 I added this William Parker family as the son of Simon and Judah Parker because of y-DNA testing. NEED proof by paper trail !!!!! William Parker is not listed on the 1790 Edgecombe Co., NC census and William Parker is not listed on the 1820 Edgecombe Co., NC census.
Could be he has moved or died?????
NOTE: The William Parker listed on the 1800 and 1810 census would have the father of William G. Parker because William G. Parker is only listed as a male not by name. So yes your William G. Parker and his father William Parker could indeed have moved to KY. between 1810 and 1820.

NOTE: Simon Parker will Dated 31 December 1758 and Probated in March Court 1759. I also give to my son, WILLIAM PARKER the plantation where I formerly lived containing eighty five acres and also ten hogs and also my gun - the gun and land to be his property at the age of twenty-one. I have this William Parker born abt.1754 so add 21 to 1754 and you get 1775 and by looking at the 1800 census below for William Parker it would appear that the ages of his children would confirmed that.

      Edgecombe Co., NC 1800 census

      2 males 10-15 1785-1790
      1 male 45+ before 1755
      2 females 10-15 1785-1790
      2 females 16-25 1775-1789
      1 female 26-44 1756-1774

NOTE: This information below has been in my file for years as it was send to me by several Parker researcher and I have ask many, many members of FG#7 to research this family BUT no one wanted to take on the job. So Cynthia please, please continue to trace this lead and yes John Bush did come from here.

      Hi there,
Not sure if you are still looking, but I have a couple of Parkers from Barley in Hertfordshire in my family tree. Anne Parker born 1/10/1655 in Barley married Thomas Dawes(b1672 Braughing d1717) and is mentioned in his will - he was a yeoman and owned several properties. Anne Parker's parents were Thomas Parker and Martha. Not sure if that is of any use to you but the records may show Anne to have siblings who may have emigrated.
      Regards, Sally
  • Wayne, I see this as a very good conclusion. Is there any DNA data for the sons of Simon? Good to hear from you. Mike
    • Mike,
We have DNA data from Simon Parker father Francis Parker (P355 P368 FG#7) and we have the DNA data from William G. Parker born 1803.

Yes, it is good to be back as my health problems have really slowed me down.
