Blanche Parker

I am looking for information pertaining to my great-grandmother, Blanche Parker.  Her mother was Dora Kecker Parker.  If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great.  I am just starting out on my quest for history.  All I have so far is that the line goes all the way back to John Ledger Parker.  I know about him, I now am hoping to learn more about his descendant and my great-grandmother Blanche.

  • Hi Jana, You might try searching on www.familysearch.org . All you have to do is click on search and genealogy and then put in the ancestors that you know and it might bring up what you are looking for. I found my Parker ancestry on this website. Good luck in your search, Brenda.
  • Hello, JanaRae Prenatt - Glad you are pleased.

About Ancestry.com, the best suggestion I can make is to Google it, familiarize yourself with their offerings, then subscribe to (and pay for) the US version of their offerings. I believe you can still get a one- or two-month subscription, try it out, and then cancel or perhaps subscribe on an annual basis. The annual sub is the most cost effective, but may be more than you need. Skip the International subscription and any/all of Ancestry.com dna services that may still be available.

The Ancestry US database on military enlistment, etc. covers numerous wars and does provide a lot of info such as discharge, some death records. Whether it specifically includes data on your individuals, I cannot say. I advise not to rely on the guest or trial sign ups which will merely frustrate you. You get what you pay for.

FYI, Ancestry.com is buying up various previously free or very low cost online genealogy websites and converting them to Ancestry.com properties. Some changes become effective in September 2014. Examples include Genealogy.com/GenForum, Find-A-Grave, and others. The inevitable outcome of such a process is always a realignment of services and increases in price.

Good luck in your research. I am not related to the Parkers of this report.

  • That is amazing!! Thank you so much! My grandmother is Gertrude. I was born in Meadville, And live in Conneautville in my early years. This is amazing.
How do I find my family? Will ancestory.com lead meto relatives who may not have returned home from war? I am ordering memorial bracelets and I want them to be of soldiers from my lineage.

  • Hello, Jana Rae Prenatt -

Your Blanche Josephine Parker was born in Conneautville, Pennsylvania in December 1909, the youngest child of John M. Parker and Dora Kecker. Josephine appeared on 1910 and 1920 Pa censuses. In 1923 she married Ralph James Smock and had three children, Eva, Ralph Jr., and Josephine. They divorced. In 1929 your Blance married Leon L. LaSage and they moved to Kansas. They had two children, Gertrude and Leon Jr. and the LaSage family returned to Pennsylvania. Blanche's three Smock children thereafter used the LaSage surname.
Blanche Parker LaSage died in Conneautville in 1951.

These details and many more about Blanche and her relatives can be found on Ancestry.com censuses and public trees and also on Find-A-Grave. I hope this is helpful. I am not related to this Parker family. Please let me know if you need additional information.
