Sally or Sarah Powell and Abraham Parker

I am looking for some kind of a document to prove that Sarah Powell who married Abraham Parker is the daughter of

John Powell, II and Sally Wiggins. I noticed it was on the decedents for FG7.  Would anyone know what proof there is

for this connection?

  • Hello Elizabeth,

Congratulations on your endeavor to join the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century and getting approved.

Would you concern writing a post on Parker Heritage telling us how you got interested in the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, who they are and all the requirements that you had to meet?
We may have other Parker ladies who might wish to join.

  • Hi Wayne, After sending the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century 17 items to prove the Sarah "Salley" Powell was the daughter of John Powell II, I was approved!! Just got the certificate last week. My 3rd cousin Shirley Rudin was then able to sent her application in for membership. Thank you for asking.
  • Hi Elizabeth,
    Welcome to FG#7,
Were you able to get your supplemental application to the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century approved?

  • When searching the Parkers from Marion County Arkansas, do not miss checking California records. The Parker Train was involved in the Mountain Meadow Massacre story of 1857. The Parkers had made a few trips from Arkansas to California and back, and one of them was in 1857 when several west bound Trains traveled to California, sometimes hooking up with each other. Those included the Fancher Train, the Poteet-Tackett Train, the Campbell Train, The "Crooked Creek" Train, the Baker Train, and others. Some veered off west at Salt Lake, some veered off south east at Cedar City Utah. They were spared. Those who had been lured into Mountain Meadows at the orders of Brigham Young and ambushed were all slaughtered under a flag of truce, except 17 little children. Basel Parker and his Train came through a day after the massacre and wrote a book about his experiences. Basel Parker knew Capt Alexander Fancher as they had traveled to California in 1853 and met up a time or two on the way. Capt Alexander Fancher had been from the Metalton area of Carroll County, ARK - at that time adjacent to Marion County. Parts of Marion County and Carroll County were split into Boone County in 1869.
  • Thank you, Wayne. I have seen this will information which proves that their daughter married a Powell. I have submitted a supplemental application to the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century and they are looking for the John Powell, II connection to our Sarah. I have just returned from Gatesville, NC and wasn't able to find anything for that connection. Hopefully, someone will have further information.
