Parents of James Parker (1716-1797) ??

Looking for parents of James Parker Sr born 1716 Pennsylvania died 1797 in Lexington, KY.  Married to Mary Todd.  They had 8 children of which James Jr is my line.  Have been looking for next next generation of James Sr.  Have seen a couple different family trees where potentially it might be a William Parker or a Richard Parker or ???  Nothing that adds up 100%.  Have sent for Y-DNA test to see which Parker group I may belong to.  Thanks for any insight.

  • I will b following, i think we may b connected
  • Thanks for the follow-up. I will try to connect with Dr. West. Disappointed with your 1st reply that I don't match any other Parker that has been tested. But such is life, always a challenge ahead of you.
  • Hi Tom,
Try to get in touch with Dr. Dennis R. West as he is the Administrator of the Parker DNA project . I have e-mailed him a while ago but he did not answer me back.
After I looked at the information on both the old Parker and the new Parker website I found Kit N61872 P273 (His oldest ancestor is Archibald S. PARKER, b 1791 NC. Wife unknown) but this Parker male had his y-DNA tested at the 12 marker only but you and he match at this level. I normally would not even consider at this low level of a match but you and he have one marker DYS385 that is very unusual 9-14
Hope you can get better information form Dr. Dennis R. West.
NOTE: Parker Heritage and the Parker y-DNA Project are not connect. The groups listed on PH are generated at the Parker DNA Project.

  • Hi Tom.
I just checked out your kit 656083 on the Family Tree Parker Project. Your kit is listed under Ungrouped and what that means is you have not matched any other Parker that has been tested.

  • Hi, just received my Y37 DNA results from FTDNA (kit 656083). Indicates Haplogroup R-M269 with Haplotype R1b if I interpreted it correctly. What is the next step within Parker Heritage to see which group to join??
    Thanks, Tom
  • Be sure to let us know your yDNA results! Parker Family #7 is loaded with William and Richard. Mike
