My line is David Payne Parker, son of William Carey Parker (and Evelyn Payne), son of George Robertson Parker (and Iola Yates), son of Hannibal Nero Parker (and Mary Waitt), son of Harry Oliver Parker (and Solinda Jones), son of John Parker (1755-1806)(and Chloe Lassiter(1760-1824)) where the Parker trail ends. There are websites that claim him, but have about a 100 year gap in them from his supposed father's birth to his birth - which is biologically challenging to say the least.
Chloe Lassiter can be traced back to Thomas Leicester who arrived in Jamestown, Va in 1610, but the Parker trail grows cold prior to John Parker's birth in 1755 (which is reasoned from the stated age in his Will).
John Parker was apparently born and married in the Gates County (eastern end of what was then Chowan County), NC in 1755 (assuming he knew is own age in his Will which was probated in Wake County, NC). He and his wife, Chloe along with some others of her Lassiter clan, migrated to Raleigh (Wake County) NC somewhere around 1795 according to census records and had lots of children, including the Rev. John Parker who went to Tennessee around 1810 or so and whose line has received lots of research and attention -- but stops at John Parker. My ancestor, Harry Oliver Parker (sometimes referred to in his own journal as "Henry Odum Parker" was close to the end of the children and wound up being the guardian for his younger sibling, Wiley.
Any help out there in Parker Heritage land with John Parker, Sr's lineage?

The City of Raleigh was surrendered on April 13, 1865 by Mayor Harrison, Raleigh Commissioners Creech, Farriss, Poole and Richardson and Kennth Rayner, Dr. McKee "and other citizens". It is possible that HO Parker was among that number. The surrender was to Gen. Kilpatrick in command of the advance of the Federal Army. The 5th Ohio Calvary were the first to occupy Raleigh and reports indicated that the occupation went smoothly, except for one shooting. Remarkably, there was no violence upon the assassination of President Lincoln and no retribution taken by the Union troops.
Hope this is helpful. I strongly recommend researching through newspapers.com for the details of these family legends and tales!
BTW: the Hardy Parker connection, though tempting to accept, does not seem to connect - the dates of apparent paternity being only one of the issues!
Having said all of that...I, too, have nothing beyond John.
Thanks -- I will get her signed up and see where it takes us.

Sadly, but proudly too, I am adopted. Because I am interested, though, I have wound up being the family historian and answer questions for my cousins as best I can. I have a first cousin, though, that is both interested and "of the blood" who would likely be willing to donate. What do I need to get her to do?
P329 is the # assigned to an ancestor recorded in the ParkerDNA Project. Given when the DNA is matched or not to others in families related through that DNA. Mine is P324 found in parker Faimily Group #22
