Anson Parker

My grandfather is James Alfred Parker born in Crawford County AR in 1921.  He was part Cherokee and he stated he was listed on the rolls but my Mom never got a chance to go search all the microfilm for his number.  He is now deceased and I have traced back several generations:  Irvin Parker, William Jasper Parker, Andrew Jackson Parker, and am stuck at Anson Parker married to Olivia Hatfield.  City historical records indicate Andrew Jackson was orphaned at age 10 in Morgan County, Tennesse and traveled with a half-sibling to Arkansas.  This would be around the time a lot of Cherokee were leaving TN and many migrated to Arkansas.  It would seem that there was a group of families who moved together.  One of them being Mason S. Conley (Connally) who was married to Rhoda Conley.  Mason was killed in 1837 defending his two brother-in-laws Barnet & Bolin Cheatham.  Andrew Jackson Parker would later marry one of Mason's daughters who was Keziah Conley-Shepherd.       I have just run into a dead end ...

  • I got so excited when I saw "Anson Parker" but soon realized that you had run into the same brick wall that I have. My dad was Robert Morgan Parker, son of Andrew Jackson #2., son of Andrew #1, son of Anson & Olivia Hatfield Parker. My mom remembered Sarah (wife of Andrew #2 & my dad's mother) telling her about the 1st Andrew being born in Morgan County, TN and Anson & Olivia dying there, but that's as much as she knew. My oldest sister & I found a book in the library that gave us the info on the 1st Andrew and his memories which confirmed what Mom had told us. There was one other statement from Andrew in the book that we were sure would help us find out more. Andrew stated that Anson & Olivia were "natives of Alabama" but I haven't been able to find anything on either one of them in Alabama or Tennessee for that matter! It's like Anson & Olivia Parker never existed! I haven't given up hope yet though, I keep thinking someone, someday will break through my brick wall!
