  • Hello Patricia,

SOOOO good to see you posting again , we have missed you.

  • Robert PARKER and the BOX seem somehow may be connected in either South Carolina or Georgia.  This is the Robert PARKER I am trying to connect to the Robert PARKER in Missippi and Louisiana, the older Robert PARKER as we have written about before by our Jesse and Benjamin PARKER.  Only 1 different YDNA marker between all those markers for your Benjamin and my Jesse PARKER.  Trying to connect the Robert PARKER from Georgia to the older Robert PARKER in Missisippi.   There are BOX and PARKER families by each other at times.

  • Hi Patricia,

Thanks for answering. When I go to that link it says sorry, I am not allowed.

Thanks for help. Let me know what to do.

  • The new site is a mess to me-I am working on it but not happy with progress so far. The administrator/moderators apparently were wiped out-trying to correct. Sorry for this. Mike
  • Hi Patrica,

I know that Effie had 3 children, Levi, Luther and Elizabeth. I am Levi's grandson and have made contact with one of Elizabeth's grandchildren but that is all I have found.

I am also interested in the family line backward from William "doc" Parker and finding someone with history and pictures. The research through  Sterling should help alot.

    Thanks,

    Dennis Austin

  • Thank you, Patricia. The help you've given is terrific. Now I can buckle down and work solely on the Parker side of the family.  I've also been working on Brooks and Bunch from Mom's side. Thank goodness the Scandinavians left excellent church records and had fewer wars. Researching Dad's side of the family has been soooo much easier!

  • Thank you for getting back to me so quickly, Patricia!  It is Robert Parker, Jr. whose will I am seeking. On your advice, I have gone ahead and ordered Ramond Fouts' book. The information that got me started on the Parker genealogy trail was the "family lore" that we were related to Cynthia Ann Parker. It seems apparent that we are not. Now I just need to move past Benjamin Franklin Parker, and it appears that is something many have tried to do without positive results. But...I am tenacious, and that's worth something!

  • There is only one Martha Washington Barton in the Barton Database.  She was born to Larkin Barton and Lucy Barton - probably in the 1820s or early 1830s, possibly in Meriwether Co GA.  No husband is listed for her.  Her brother, William Gaines Barton, was born in Meriwether Co GA & died in Columbia Co AR - so the few details I find for her are consistent with this Martha Barton being wife of Peyton Parker.  This is my Barton line.  Larkin's uncle is my direct ancestor, Thomas Barton who m Sarah Kees.  Ironically, these Barton families shared membership with Elder John Parker in Shole Creek Baptist Church c1800 - which was located approximately where I-85 crosses the GA/SC line today.

I am descended from Elder John Parker through his daughter, Phebe Parker, b c1790 Elbert Co GA, who married Zacheus/Zachariah Hassell c1812, prob Hickman Co TN.  Their son, John Hassell was born 1822 in Crawford Co IL.  Phebe was received into Pilgrim Church, Elkhart TX on 9 May 1840, so I speculate that she and Zack went to Texas about that time

  • Patricia,

Thank you so much for your time and effort.

The MT DNA test was an effort to find any connection between Mary Ida (Ida to most) and the surname Powell.  I find I have many DNA matches with a Powell surname in their tree, but no facts to back up the name.  Yes, I do love documentation.

I know who my great grandmother was Margaret Michal Raulerson (Rolinson, Rollison), born to Westberry Raulerson and Elizabeth Canaday.  The Raulerson line is easy to follow as it is well documented in family bibles and in the PIONEERS OF WIREGRASS GEORGIA by FOLKS HUXFORD.  However, when it came to Margaret he simply said she married John Parker and gave no information regarding the Parker family that would connect him with others.

The things I know for sure regarding John Henry Parker are:

    • He was born abt 1850.
    • He married Margaret Raulerson (born in 1854) in 1873 after obtaining a marriage license in Duval County, FL.  I have tried to obtain the certificate of marriage, but was told the records burned in 1900.  I keep trying, as they did have a source file number and a reference number on the document we found online.
    • John Henry Parker and Margaret Raulerson had 2 children:  Charles Wesley Parker 1878-1947, and Mary Ida Parker 1880-1956.
    • He divorced Margaret Raulerson sometime after the 1880 census and before his second marriage in 1884.
    • He married Mary M. Moore (1862-1910) in Pierce County, GA on 20 Sep 1884.
    • John Henry Parker and Mary M. Moore had 2 children: Mary M. Parker 1894-1956, and John Henry Parker 1897-1953.
    • In a letter from the younger John Henry Parker he states they lived in Valdosta, Lowndes County, GA in 1906.
    • The letter mentions that their father died in 1917, and
    • that their Aunt Vianna died in 1937.  Aunt Vianna lived "in North Ga., Calhoon, Ga - near Chatanooga."
    • The younger John Henry Parker married a woman named Ida Ann and they lived in Queens Village 8, New York.  They had no children and both are buried in the National Cemetery in NY.
    • Mary M. Parker married George R. Walker (1874-1940), and they had 3 children; Ruby Gertrude, Thomas W., and David.  According to Mary Ida Parker Mixon's obituary, her half-sister lived in "Ahaira, Ga."  I believe that should be Hahira, Ga. near Valdosta, GA.

That is a lot of information, but I still can't seem to break down that wall. I have several cousins searching with me.  Most of them have copied my photographs and other data on ancestry.com.  Those cousins are probably the ones you mention are researching the Parker/Mixon clan on ancestry.com.

If any of this information rings a bell or if you can give me advice on conducting further research, please do contact me.

Again, thank you very much for the time and effort you put into my search.

    Trisha

  • Hi Patricia,

I have sent an invitation to review my family tree in ancestry.com to you through that site.  I tried to send one to your email address, but it was rejected for some reason.  In viewing the tree, please not the question mark at John Henry Parker (my great grandfather).  He was the only John Parker of the appropriate age living near my great grandmother.  I am not certain he is my John Henry Parker; therefore, I do not know if his ancestors are correctly placed there.

I am not sure how I joined FG#7.  I find your site a little hard to maneuver.  I have test results from an autosomal DNA test and an mtDNA test.  Frankly, they have not helped me at all with my Parker line.  They have helped with several other lines.

You may boot me out of this family group if you wish.  I am sorry if this has been an inconvenience to anyone.
