I am descended from Pheraby (various spellings) of North Carolina and Tennessee, and want to find her parents. Feraby Jane Parker and Henry Dukes were married in Orange County, NC in 1802. There's no other mention on Feraby in the OC records and very little of Henry--and not before 1800. He sold a slave in 1803 and bought a horse in 1804 and then disappears until 1830 in Jefferson County, TN, although there is mention of a Henry Dukes in the 1810 Jefferson County militia. His first five known children were born in NC, and then from 1813 on the second five were born TN. There were most likely early children who died young, as Wiley, the oldest surviving son, was b 1807. Another son, Washington, died in 1825, and may have been their first. The other children were James, William, John G., Henry, Alan, Mary, Elizabeth and Rebecca. Except for John G., who had no children, and James, about whom nothing is known other than that he was alive in 1864, descendants of these children have been very well and thoroughly traced and we are in contact with one another. John G named his 8 siblings in his will in apparent birth order, and he wrote it in 1864. Feraby's sister Rebecca married James Farmer, and the two couples seem to have gone to Jefferson County with some Elmores. There were other marriages among these families. Cousins, sometimes. We've been stuck on this couple for many years. The Dukes have done DNA testing and know that we are descended from John Duke of Isle of Wight VA., b 1640. Some of the DNA cousins have been able to trace themselves back to him but Henry's descendants are missing some generations. I've recently begun to think that Henry came to OC from Northampton County; I've never been able to learn anything about Feraby or her Parkers.

Hello, Judy Ann Dukes - I see that you joined Parker Heritage many months ago and am glad that you have updated your profile.
Pheraby/Feraby/Phoebe/etc.etc. was a very popular Parker given name in both NC and Tennessee over the centuries and easily confused in records. So please share more details about her husband and her descendants, including dates, places, spouses, children if you have them. That will enable PH members to get acquainted with you and help you with your research. See the various blog, comment, discussion, and forum buttons on the masthead above.
Glad you are reaching out. Patricia Ross Parker, researcher
