I've been stuck on this road block for about five years now and wondering if anyone might have any helpful information. I can trace my Parker line back to William Parker born in Ohio ca. 1833. He married Sarah J Kennedy in Cleves OH 1866 and shortly after their marriage they moved to Linn County Kansas. They had four children, Horace Sam Parker (my great great great grandfather), Rilla Parker, William J Parker, and Edgar R Parker.

The main problem I'm having is that on different censuses William Parker lists his father's birthplace once as New Jersey and another time as New York making it hard to use earlier censuses to narrow down who his parents might be. The good news is that he always lists his mother's birthplace as OH. If you have any ideas that might help or any information I'd really appreciate it.

  • I haven't. I'm not exactly sure how all that works. Plus my dad was adopted into the Parker family so my DNA wouldn't help much, but I guess I could try to talk one of my cousins into doing that.
    • Ask a male cousin. Check out the Parker yDNA project, click the yDNA tab at the top of the site. FamilyTreeDNA is the preferred testing lab.
      • perfect. thanks so much
  • Have you done yDNA to help narrow your research field!
