  • Hi Linda, I found some info you have searched for. Mary Parker born in England 1750 Death Sept 5, 1843. Married abt1779 to James Orrey / Urrey born in UK abt 1758 died 1798 in Bedford,Va. they had one child Janes L. Parker born in St. Mary, Stockport, Cheshire,England on July 11, 1782 died Feb. 1863 in Botetourt, Virginia. James married Melvina Nancy Vina Fowler Oct 13, 1809. They had 12 kids. No death date for Melvina.
The union of James Orrey and Mary Parker are the earliest individuals starting our Parker line.
Hope this fills in some blanks. You might recheck names and dates with your sources.
    Thanks, Dennis
  • I can't figure out where to go from here. I have not seen the information on James Parker but will check that out as well. I wish you well in your research and will gladly let you know if I find anything on Mary's parents or spouse.
    • Thanks Linda.
  • Linda,
I have been looking for Mary's first husband for years to no avail..I am down the line of Marys' son JAMES l. PARKER 1785, who married Lavina Fowler,1795; Their son James H. 1820-1885 who married Tabitha Jane Crouch 1824-1894; Their son Henry Spotswood Parker 1852 who married 12-23-1871, Sara Elizabeth Crouch who died April 1916. Their son Charles Price Parker 1892-1938, married Gladys Missour Bane 1898-1987. Those two are my Grandparents. There is a lot os supposition about Mary and who the father of her children were. I got a "match" on Heritage that said his name was "James Buchanan Parker B: 5-12-1757, D: Nov. 1833... was the father of Moses and 11 other children.. I have not been able to prove/disprove this in any way.. I wish you well in your search.. Perhaps share something with me if you get a lead on Mary? Thanks.
    • Mary Parker was not married to the father of her 1st four children (Aron, Moses, James, and Nancy). Their father was James Urrey/Orrey. I have all the documentation that you will need. Email is dpingram51@gmail.com.
      • Hi Donna, I’m Dennis Whorley and just joined this site. So far it looks like Mary Parker was the start of my line of Parker’s. You stated above you have documentation on her and James Orrey. Would you consider emailing what information you have on these two people. I hope this info will help fill a few gaps for me. I really appreciate this. My email is: dennis.mwhorley@gmail.com.

PS If I see I have info you need I’ll be glad too send it to you.
I saw somewhere we are 3rd cousins.
        Thanks again.
        • Donna and Dennis have you looked into Orange County, Caswell County or Person County NC. Records for your Mary Parker. There was a couple of Mary’s, Aron and Moses Parker And James in records there. Mary Parker was listed in 1800 census with two sons and a daughter. She had hauled a neighbor into court in 1794 for support of a baseborn child. I believe she had a son named John and daughter named Susan. The baseborn child was named Thomas. I believe she may have been a Jameson that might have married a John Parker. My working theory right now is that John Parker was possibly the youngest son of Thomas and Mildred Parker of Essex Co/ Bedford county Va. I believe the younger children moved to Caswell county in the 1780s following the Donohoe, Mildred’s kinfolk.

A yDNA test by male Parker descendants of the John Parker 1759-1825 ( https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Parker-1424 ) who died in Sumner Co., TN. links him to the Thomas Parker 1711-1761 who married Mildred Donoho in Essex Co., VA. Thomas Parker 1711-1761 had a half brother named Wyatt Parker 1757-1837 ( https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Parker-11756 ) who was left a bequest in their father Robert Parker 1680-1764’s Essex Co., VA will. Both the John Parker 1759-1825 and Wyatt Parker 1757-1837 belong to Parker yDNA FamilyGroup #15.

Additionally the John Parker 1759-1825 (m Rhoda Renfro) who died in Sumner Co., TN lived in close proximity to his brother Thomas Parker bef. 1760-1810 (m. Judith Renfro) who also died in Sumner Co., TN. Thomas Donoho & Coleman Donoho witnessed Thomas Parker bef. 1760-1810’s Sumner Co., TN will. And that Thomas Donoho lived adjacent to John Parker 1759-1810 in Sumner Co. TN.
