        PARKER Family Group 17
Family Group 17 was formed on 11 March 2005, following receipt of Y-DNA resutls for P139. He matches P134 match on 66 of 67 markers. P134 descends from Thomas J. PARKER, born 1852 in Alabama, and died about 1909 in Jefferson County Alabama. Thomas married Sarah Catherine HOWARD, who was born in 1860, and died in 1922 in Jefferson County Alabama. P139 descends from James Monroe PARKER, born 1872 in White County, Arkansas, and died 1959 in New Boston, Texas. He married Eliza Luantha CORZINE in 1896. Eliza was born 1871 and died in 1950, she was the daughter of William CORZINE and Miriam STARK. Since receiving the DNA results, descendants have learned that Peter PARKER, born 1818 in Tennessee was the father of James Monroe PARKER.

P300 was added to this group in July 2010. He descends from William Parker, born 1766/67 in North Carolina, died in 1850 in Pickens County Alabama. His wife is thought to have been Elizabeth "Betsey" BEASLEY, but this has not been proven. Thier known children (probably more) were: Joseph PARKER, married Esther BUSHONG; Burrell PARKER, married Catheran BUSHONG; Nancy PARKER, married George W BUSHONG.
P309 was added to this group in February 2011. His oldest ancestor is Nicholas PARKER, born probably in Virginia in 1755, and died in Anson County, N.C. on Aug. 20, 1820. • See my new post. Family of William G. Parker born 1803 in Edgecombe Co., NC ?

  • Hey everyone! Sorry it's been so long, school is crazy. Has there been any news on our line recently? I have a quick question... my twin sister had an ethnic origin DNA test done recently through ancestry.com. Would her results be of any use to us since there was some origin results included in the DNA test my cousin did?
    • I had mine done and I didn't think mine was that exciting or helpful, maybe I just don't know much about how to use it. I have had lots of "connections" but they are the ones that posted on Ancestry and that I could already match up with the "little leaves" in the first place without the test. I guess the test just confirms that we are DNA related. As far as the numbers like posted on the Parker site, I only received descendant locations, the Scandinavian kinda threw me off at first and the grouping of the Irish, English, Scottish into a European group.....It just wasn't as interesting as I had hoped. Hang in there with school. Lanelle
      • Hi again! I found the Ancestry origin info interesting, but not terribly illuminating. I had mostly Scandinavian origin, which was a surprise, and my percentage of Irish has increased since I first got the results. Lanelle and I confirmed our DNA link as close cousins, so I assume your sister will be one of our close DNA cousins as well. As far as our Y-DNA line, I started trying to research the land records and quickly became befuddled. (You can just look at Wayne's 6/30/16 discussion of the FG#7 land records to see why that might happen.) One other thing that really throws me off is the lack of family names down the line, as if they pulled names out of a hat, or we just don't have the right families identified yet. It's a busy summer, so I haven't been back digging into this much. Cynthia
  • I would also be thrilled to learn anything more about William & Silva/Silvia. One source suggested that they were married in December 1825, but I have not found any evidence to support that. How William got to TN & KY after he was born in Edgecombe Co., NC, and who he traveled with then, is a mystery. The only thing we know for sure, based on Courtni's male Y-DNA testing, is that he belongs to Parker FG # 7.
  • I have a home in Todd county. Is there anything you would like me to search for next time I'm out there?
    • I appreciate your offer. We know very little about our ancestor's time in Todd County, Ky other than the fact that they were thoughtful enough to aid us in knowing where they were born. As far as we know William G. Parker b 1803 in Edgecombe Co., NC married Silvia/Sylvia Bryan/Bryant/Briant-various spellings-who was born about 1806-7 in Tennessee. We believe this was their first born Leroy Sail/Sale/Seale Parker was born in Todd County, Ky 17 Oct 1827. I do not know where the firstborns name came from, other than there was a doctor practicing in the county by at name. I have researched him and wasn't able to connect the two families. I did find it interesting that his family are buried with an enclosure of wrought iron fencing as was the custom apparently of William G. Parker in Smith and Comanche counties in Texas. I found that interesting. #1- I have wondered if they purchased land in Todd County or just rented, since they were in Hinds Co., Mississippi by 1830. #2-could they have married in Todd County? We know even less about Silvia Bryan. So if you are there doing research, I would be thrilled to have you see if there is anything you could uncover about them. Your family has also fascinated me as well as my father. Thanks again, Lanelle
